I studied Social Anthropology at Manchester University 1998-2001, then went onto their Masters in Visual Anthropology at the Granada Centre before completing a practice-led PhD with The University of Westminster (2008). My PhD explored identity, sexuality and the politics of filming. Part of the enquiry concerned the accessibility of knowledge and of knowing, and to this end both the film and written thesis are here: www.queergiving.co.uk.

In 2009 I moved to Glasgow and made the shift from editing film to editing houses in becoming a professional declutterer. My business Insightful Moves uses kindness, creativity and pragmatism to help relieve the owners and their homes of the weight of their things.

Concurrently I work with concerned organisations - like the fire service, academia, and care home providers - on projects that use film and common sense to encourage empathy: empathy with the people and systems they engage with that struggle with the weight of materiality.
