Natalja Salnikova is a PhD student at the University of Freiburg, working with the international research training group “Cultural transfer and cultural identity – German- Russian contacts in a European context”. Her dissertation explores the cultural identity of ethnic Germans in a museological context. Her project calls for a comparative study within the binational (German/Russian) museum landscape.
Prior to commencing her studies at Freiburg, she was a Research Assistant at the State Museum for Art and Cultural History in Oldenburg and a Curatorial Assistant at the Institut Mathildenhöhe Darmstadt.
Ms. Salnikova is especially interested in the way objects are utilized in alternative healing and magic in ethnic communities.
