Jane Dickson is an anthropologist working on the Delivering Digital Drugs (D3) project, investigating the digital materiality of medicines. This is a two-year, Research Councils UK funded project into the ways that medicines have become assemblages – part active chemical, part information (data), part practice and part digital services (algorithms, software, apps).
During her PhD research into green (living) roofs for the material, visual and digital section of the anthropology department at University College London, Jane discovered a rare delight at climbing onto and over the roofscapes of London.
In addition to digital materiality and medicines, Jane's research interests include the social and material construction of sustainability, plant and people interactions, cities, space and place.
