Alex Miller is an ESRC funded PhD researcher at the University of Leeds. His research and academic background is as a social geographer. Alex is interested in issues of home, identity and embodiment, particularly how these are expressed and enacted through (practices with) objects.
Alex’s research focuses on the experiences and practices of people who see themselves as a ‘compulsive hoarder’. It looks at the way that ‘hoarders’ interact with objects to construct their identities and the meanings they attach to their possessions. Alex is interested in hoarders’ ideas and practices of home as a way of relating to material culture.
