Annelieke Driessen studied Cultural Anthropology at Utrecht University, the Netherlands. She completed her Research Master Social Sciences with a focus on Medical Anthropology and Sociology, with honours, at the University of Amsterdam. For her master thesis Annelieke did research with men with breast cancer in Germany and the Netherlands. After three years of teaching social sciences at the sociology department of the University of Amsterdam, project assistance in the production of medical information films for patients at TAKEPART Media and Science in Cologne (Germany), and research at both the Centre for Society and the Life Sciences and the Radboud hospital in Nijmegen (the Netherlands), she returned to the University of Amsterdam to do her Phd Research in the Long Term Care and Dementia Project. In her project she looks at daily care practices and the body in dementia nursing home care.
