Melanie Lovatt is a lecturer in sociology at the University of Stirling. Her research interests include the sociology of everyday life, ageing and the life course, health and illness, death and dying, home, relationships and family. Her PhD (University of Sheffield) takes an ethnographic approach to the everyday lives of older people living in residential accommodation, focusing on how the residents’ interactions with material culture influences their experiences of home. She has also published research on the experiences of adults who have sorted through the houses of older family members who have moved into residential and nursing accommodation.
