After studying industrial design at the Fachhochschule Heiligendamm/Wismar (University of Applied Sciences, Technology, Business and Design) and the Bauhaus University Weimar, Maria did freelance work in this field. She returned to University for a Bachelor degree in History and Theory of Culture, Archaeology and Philosophy in 2009 and completed the Master’s degree in History and Theory of Culture with a thesis on »The Hospital Bed: A Clinical Case History (1700 – 1900)« at Humboldt-University in Berlin in 2014. Currently, she is a research associate at the Cluster of Excellence »Image Knowledge Gestaltung« at Humboldt University in Berlin.
